Netizen looking to auction off domain name
(China Daily)
Updated: 2007-03-21 09:14
The warm-hearted netizen who registered the longest domain in China for
one yuan ($0.12) is planning to auction it off for 500,000 yuan ($61,728)
to help a girl student in Henan Province.
The girl, Zhang Haixia, won the title of "zhongguo zui meili de pinkun
shanqu nvtong" (or, China's most lovely girl student from a
poverty-stricken mountainous area) on the Internet after a newspaper
reported that she was looking for a 500,000-yuan loan with interest to
help a leukemia patient who once mailed Zhang 500 yuan to help her pay
for school. Touched by Zhang's story, the netizen, who goes by the name
"Daydreaming" on the Internet, registered three domains:
www.zhongguozuimeilidepinkunshanqunvtong.com,
www.zhongguozuimeilidepinkunshanqunvtong.com.cn and
www.zhongguozuimeilidepinkunshanqunvtong.net.cn in an effort to collect
the 500,000 yuan .
