Well worth egging on

The most important thing in life is probably breakfast. Other than
family, of course. And water. And a roof above our heads. Ok, in a list
of all things important, the first meal of the day would factor in fairly
close to the top.
The question then is where do you rank it? There are the movers and
shakers, who limit their morning intake to a hot cup of coffee and a
meager bagel or croissant.
Some-god forbid-even go without, starving through the morning and putting
strain on their puny constitutions until the time comes for their mid-day
meal.
There are others who take into account the only thing consumed in the
many hours since supper was the corner of their pillow, and tackle the
first light of day with gusto.
It has been a while since someone rattled that old adage about breaking
fast like a king, lunching like a prince and supping like a pauper, but
that does not make it any less true.
One problem in this city is that the fragile Western stomach often can't
handle the local fare early in the morn. While hot spicy dishes and
richer meals are tucked away for brekky across Asia, the average
Englishman still balks at the idea of even pasta to start the day.
The average Anglo-Saxon's options have improved of late. The person who
first brought the concept of all-day breakfasts to fruition should have a
monument erected in his or her honor, preferably made out of bacon and
hash browns.
The frustration of arriving at McDonald's 10 minutes past 10 has no place
in the modern world.
Full English breakfast is an institution, an indispensable component of
modern culture. There is something sacred and holy about gobbling a plate
piled with a mound of bacon, egg, sausages, bread, baked beans, tomato,
mushrooms and fried potatoes.
Hidden on sleepy Yongfu Road, just round the corner from JZ Club, is a
temple to this near religious experience.
The non-descript entrance to La Bella Cafe, which serves breakfast
all-day, leads up to a psychedelic love cove, the perfect place to carry
out an actual conversation with that person you met for the first time
the evening before and stayed up all night dancing with.
Distinctly Euro, it's the last place one would expect to enjoy one of
England's rare contributions to the culinary world.
